It works completely differently than many third-party extensions that make text easier to read.

Google has introduced reading mode in Chrome. The option will appear in the desktop version of the browser by the end of this year, according to the company’s blog.

The “Reading Mode” button will appear on the browser’s home page. Once activated, the content of the page will be displayed in the Chrome sidebar, where bookmarks and a reading list are usually displayed.

The width of this side screen will be adjustable. Text settings will also be available there – font, letter size, background color (light, dark, yellow, blue) and line spacing.

The function is designed to reduce distracting elements on the screen, such as images, videos and advertisements. When Reading Mode is activated, only text remains on the screen.

The new feature will appear in the Chrome browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS (version 114) before the end of the year.
